Dr. Justin Baharally PT, DPT

Justin was born and raised in Queens, New York, where he lived an active lifestyle for many years. From sanctioned sports, such as baseball and taekwondo, to playing football and basketball on the street. Currently, Justin competes in Powerlifting and participates in martial arts such as Muay Thai and Judo. Taking inspiration from his active childhood, Justin earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The New York Institute of Technology, as well as his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Adelphi University.

During his second year at Adelphi while pursuing strength and conditioning, Justin experienced his first major injury: a herniated disc causing sciatica from deadlifting. Initially, he thought the pain would resolve on its own. As time went on, the body compensated and more injuries kept stacking up: meniscus tears, pinched nerves, torn ligaments, tendons, and more. Unfortunately, Justin was in and out of Physical Therapy for years with no end in sight. That was, until he met the right person. His original mentor who not only understood what it meant to be a lifter, but what it meant to rehab one.

At this point, Justin began to learn even more and saw a different way of doing things. He decided to take action himself and become the Physical Therapist he needed. The decision was made to pursue his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The New York Institute of Technology.

During his time at The New York Institute of Technology, Justin gained valuable clinical experience including orthopedics, transitional care, sports injury prevention, and chronic pain management. He also participated in research projects during his graduate studies, presenting at Aletheia 2021: the School of Health Professions Annual Research Symposium.

Using his personal experience as a patient, Justin treats various orthopedic conditions, with a strong interest in barbell rehabilitation and behavioral change. His goal is to utilize effective strength training to help people of all ages lead strong and healthy lives. At the center of his practice, Justin values relationships beyond pathology, prioritizing the person first and foremost.

In his free time, Justin enjoys board games with friends, traveling, and picking up random hobbies that he will never finish learning (looking at you, magician Justin).
